Sankatahara Chaturthi

A recurring event, that occurs on the 4th day of the Krisha Paksha waning phase of moon cycle

Sankatahara Chaturthi (or Sankashti Chaturthi) is a monthly auspicious day dedicated to Lord Ganesha, observed on the fourth day of the waning moon (Krishna Paksha) to remove obstacles and difficulties.

It is believed that Lord Ganesha, the Vighnaharta (remover of obstacles), visits the earth on this day to bless his devotees.

At the Navagraha temple on Sankatahara Chathurthi, a special abhishegam and alangaram/aarthi are done for Ganesha in the evening. The Ganapathi Atharvashirsha is chanted.
